About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader for a community-based center that provides culturally appropriate birthing support to mothers and babies. This position focuses on improving maternal and child health outcomes within a culturally informed Model of Care. The Team Leader will oversee a team of Family Support Workers, ensuring high-quality, client-focused service delivery that is culturally safe and aligned with community needs.

In this role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver support to families, guide team members through case management processes, and champion continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on role that offers the opportunity to lead change and positively impact community health and wellbeing.

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, or related field with 4 years of experience
  • Identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the impacts of intergenerational trauma.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing and coordinating case management processes and procedures. 
  • Ability to lead, guide, and manage people including the implementation of cultural change and change management opportunities.
  • Ability to support and manage a continuous improvement model to further improve the service model and practice application of front-line staff.
  • Strong experience in Child Protection 
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with families, communities, and stakeholders.
  • Experience in risk assessment, safety planning, and providing innovative solutions for complex cases.
  • Valid driver’s license, Working with Children’s Check (Blue Card), and Police Check
