Our client offers a rewarding opportunity for a Coordinator – Social Supports, located in Inverell. The role offers a salary negotiated depending on skills and qualifications, up to $105,000, for a full-time position (35 hours per week) with ongoing employment. The successful candidate will join a culturally supportive and community-focused organization dedicated to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The Role
The Coordinator – Social Supports will lead a team in delivering program requirements to clients, working closely with the Social Support Services Manager. Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading service delivery to ensure culturally appropriate assessment, referral, counseling, and group work for Aboriginal people experiencing drug and alcohol issues, mental health challenges, homelessness, and domestic violence.
  • Providing clinical support and advice to primary health care staff and partner organizations.
  • Developing and maintaining systems for cross-agency coordination, ensuring seamless pathways to care.
  • Offering education and training to staff and community members, enhancing their capacity to respond effectively to complex health issues.
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders, including Addiction Medicine Specialists, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and non-government organizations, to ensure comprehensive care plans are implemented.
  • Driving positive changes and continuous improvement within the service delivery model.
  • Conducting staff performance reviews, addressing grievances, and fostering a safe and supportive working environment.

Essential Criteria
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
  1. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
  2. Tertiary qualifications in a health, psychology, social sciences, or welfare discipline and eligibility for membership or registration with the appropriate professional body or equivalent experience.
  3. Previous experience working with community-controlled organizations, Aboriginal clients, and the capacity to communicate effectively with Aboriginal communities and services.
  4. A minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, demonstrating strong community development and service planning skills within a multidisciplinary health service delivery model.
  5. High-level written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in using computer software applications.
  6. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel overnight within the region if required.
  7. Current Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) and National Police Check, or willingness to undertake these checks.
