The role:
As the Senior/Team Lead Occupational Therapist, you will guide a dedicated team of Occupational Therapists to deliver high-quality, person-centred outcomes. You will work closely with NDIS participants, their families, and support workers, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. Your role will involve conceptualizing and implementing the principles of occupational therapy, including professionalism, knowledge and learning, occupational therapy processes, and effective care communication.

In this role, you will conduct thorough occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and evaluations. You will prescribe and recommend specialized assistive technology and mobility aids, develop intervention plans and strategies, and provide recommendations to enhance activities of daily living. You will also undertake in-home assessments and functional capacity assessments, establish collaborative goals with participants, and develop comprehensive reports detailing participants' needs and necessary assistive technology or home modifications.

You will ensure that the individual needs of participants are met through therapy services, working to strengthen their abilities to participate more fully in the community and achieve greater independence. You will educate participants and families on implementing interventions and evaluate services based on goal achievement, outcome, and performance. Additionally, you will work closely with other business units to effectively meet participants' needs and contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures, and policies within the Therapy Services Team.

As a team leader, you will provide clinical guidance, mentorship, and feedback to your team, fostering a positive and supportive environment. You will model appropriate conflict resolution, communication, and behavior management skills, facilitate team meetings, and source professional development opportunities. You will also design resources to assist best practice processes, assist in the induction and orientation of new staff, and maintain a safe workplace. Collaborating with the Allied Health Manager, you will contribute to continuous improvement within the Allied Health Department, ensuring the team operates effectively and efficiently.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a AHPRA Registered Occupational Therapy
  • Experience working across the lifespan is desirable but not essential
  • Willingness to learn and expand knowledge of Occupational Therapy Skills including with various ages groups and presentations
  • Supervision experience is desirable (training provided if required)
  • Ability to communicate and build rapport with culturally and linguistically diverse clients (speaking Chinese would be desirable)
