About the Role:

As a Family Connection Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families by delivering culturally grounded, child-centered case management services. Reporting to the Manager, you will coordinate wrap-around services to promote safe, healthy, and connected communities. Your responsibilities will include leading case management efforts, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, and fostering strong relationships with families, communities, and stakeholders.

In this role, you will drive meaningful outcomes by facilitating family-led decision-making, enhancing cultural connections, and working towards reunification goals. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external agencies, contributing to a holistic approach to child safety and wellbeing. Your ability to navigate complex cases with sensitivity and cultural awareness will be critical to achieving positive outcomes.

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, or related field with 4 years of experience
  • Identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
  • At least 3 years of case management experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the impacts of intergenerational trauma.
  • Strong experience in Child Protection 
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with families, communities, and stakeholders.
  • Experience in risk assessment, safety planning, and providing innovative solutions for complex cases.
  • Valid driver’s license, Working with Children’s Check (Blue Card), and Police Check.
  • Availability for occasional after-hours work as needed.
